This 1911 $5 Indian Half Eagle has been certified and graded by PCGS as MS64. PCGS’s encapsulation guarantees the coins MS64 Condition.

The Indian Head Half Eagle series represents one of the most innovative design shifts in early American gold coinage. Struck from 1908 through 1929, these coins introduced a bold recessed design, where the devices are sunken below the surface rather than raised, an approach used on only two U.S. circulating gold series.

Designed by Bela Lyon Pratt, the Indian Head Half Eagle reflects the artistic renaissance of early 20th-century U.S. coinage. Its distinctive sculptural style marked a clear departure from classical motifs and remains immediately recognizable to collectors. This series also represents the final circulating Half Eagle design, adding historical importance within the pre-1933 U.S. gold category.

Indian Head Half Eagles are collected for their unique appearance, relatively short production run, and sustained demand among numismatists. Professionally certified examples provide long-term preservation, verified authenticity, and consistent market recognition.
