2022-W Burnished Silver Eagle Advanced Release PCGS SP70 Damstra Signed

This certified 2022-W Burnished Silver Eagle is struck from specially burnished planchets. Burnished coins appear less shiny with a matte finish, compared to a standard bullion coin finish. This is due to the specially polished coin blanks that are used to earn the “burnished” designation.  SP70 (Special Proof 70) graded and certified by PCGS.

In 2021, the U.S. Mint refreshed the design by utilizing historical assets to more closely resemble the original artist’s work. It also added Weinman’s unique artist mark. Obverse inscriptions include "LIBERTY," "IN GOD WE TRUST," and "2021." Emily Damstra designed and Michael Gaudioso sculpted the new Eagle Landing reverse design. It depicts an eagle as it approaches a landing, carrying an oak branch, as if to add it to a nest.

History of the Silver Eagle

The American Silver Eagle is the official silver bullion coin of the United States first released November 24, 1986. American Silver eagles are only struck in the one-troy ounce size, which has a face value of one dollar and is guaranteed to contain one troy ounce of 99.9% pure silver. The Silver American Eagle coins were minted at the San Francisco Mint from 1986 – 1992. From 1993 – 2000 the coins were minted in the Philadelphia Mint. In 2001 the Silver Eagle production moved to West Point where the minting is still done today. Adolph A. Weinman designed the obverse known as The Walking Liberty and Emily Damstra designed the reverse.
